Bratwurst and Pasta Salad

There’s nothing like a picnic on the Wisconsin River or any of our lakes. And here’s a nice big salad that will serve your family at home, or anywhere.

Ingredients

4 oz cavatelli, medium shell macaroni or corkscrew macaroni

10 oz fresh broccoli or one 10-ounce package frozen cut broccoli

6 whole Trig’s Smokehouse World’s Best bratwurst, fully cooked, halved length wise and sliced

2 whole tomato, cut into wedges

4 whole green onions, sliced

1 tsp dried Italian seasoning

1/2 cup Creamy Italian Dressing or other creamy salad dressing

1 leaf lettuce, optional

1 pinch parmesan cheese, optional

 

Preparation

Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain pasta, rinse with cold water. Drain again. Cut broccoli into 1-inch pieces. Cook broccoli in boiling salted water for 7 to 9 minutes or until crisp-tender. (Or, cook frozen broccoli according to package directions.) Drain. Toss together pasta, broccoli, bratwurst, tomatoes, and green onions. Stir Italian seasoning into salad dressing. Pour dressing mixture over salad. Toss to coat. Cover. Chill for 4 to 24 hours.

Serve over lettuce and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, if desired.
